Baking Powder Biscuits

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour

  • 1 Tbsp. Sugar

  • 3 Tsp. Baking Powder

  • 1 Tsp. Salt

  • 1/2 Cup Shortening (Or Lard)

  • 3/4 Cup Milk

INSTRUCTIONS

 Preheat the oven to 450ºF. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender or by criss-crossing 2 knives utnil mixture becomes a fine crumble. Stir in the milk until the dough leaves the side soft the bowl. The dough will be soft and sticky.

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly 10 times. Roll the dough out to a ½ inch thick. Cut raw biscuits out with a floured 2 to 2¼ inches wide round cutter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch for crusty sides or let them touch for soft sides. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from the cookie sheet and serve warm.
